A recent study found that almost half of the 3,000 women surveyed prefer wearing makeup over going bare-faced.
This made skin expert Lori MacGregor and her colleagues ask themselves, "How many women wear makeup because they enjoy wearing makeup, and how many wear it because they feel a need to cover up their skin?"
MacGregor and her colleagues then came up with a skin shape-up program for women to feel as confident as they can in their own skin. She shares four tips with us that will get your skin healthy and ready for spring.
- Step 1: Start with a professional spa facial, and ask your esthetician for a Deep Cleansing Facial with either glycolic (AHA for dry skin types) or salicylic (BHC for oily/acneic skin types) acid in order to exfoliate dead skin cells and thoroughly cleanse the pores.
- Step 2: Begin a regular homecare regimen, and follow it consistently. It should be comprised of:
o An exfoliating cleanser
o A hydrating toner
o A corrective serum
o A moisturizer with SPF
- Step 3: Incorporate an eye treatment cream or gel that brightens and reduces puffiness. As you apply morning and night, massage the eye area gently to reduce water retention and increase circulation.
- Step 4: Hydrate! Increase your daily water intake, and start using a hydrating mask 2 to 3 times per week after exfoliating. Serums with hyaluronic acid are excellent as well.
