There's still time: Great V-Day ideas

TULSA - Valentine’s Day is here! It’s important to think out of the box when it comes to planning a memorable evening with that special someone. It can be easy to fall into the hype of all of the “holiday driven” candy, cards and disposable items that will leave your pockets empty and your loved one looking for more. So use some creativity and surprise your Valentine with something you can’t buy in the store. Here's a cool idea... show your special someone you love them by taking a load off of their to-do list by giving the gift of organization.

Closet
Does your significant other spend hours looking for something to wear? Organize his/her clothing by color and separate items into sub categories like pants, skirts and tops. Consider replacing ALL the hangers in the closet with my favorites from the Container Store , as the hangers are slim, and have a non-slip velvet finish. For the romantic part, add some scented satchels of potpourri or any scent that turns your partner on. The closet will be a more inviting space for both of you. For an extra special touch, leave love notes in the pockets of various tops and pants, making not one, but many days special for the special person in your life.

Dinner
Many of you know that the most irritating thing about Valentine’s Day is the expensive prix fixe dinner menu. SKIP IT! Instead, go through the pantry and refrigerator and get rid of old and unwanted items. Then take a trip to the grocery store, together, and pick out your menu for a romantic candlelit dinner at home. Get some ingredients for a special dessert you can make together for a romantic end to your evening.

Automobile
Clean up and organize his/her messy car. Get rid of any papers and trash that might be lying around, and organize any necessary documents. Take all of the CD’s that are homeless and buy a small Case Logic to organize them into their new home. They even make visor CD holders. Put a pen and paper in the glove compartment along with a few special love notes in the glove box, then fold out mirrors and side compartments of the car. Finally, take the car for a wash and fill the tank with gas.

Bedroom
Candles, romantic music, and yes…even some rose petals from the local florist (which are very inexpensive if you ask for the ones that aren’t usable) spread all over the bed, will change your Valentine’s Day completely. Organize this part of your night as the end all with even a special sheet, draped over your sleeping sheet, so you can bring dessert into the bedroom. This way if something spills on the bed you can toss that sheet directly into the laundry.

Have a romantic and successfully organized Valentine’s Day that your loved one will be talking about for weeks, courtesy of Organize & Create Discipline!
