DETROIT (WXYZ) - What an amazing morning! Fifty of our Twitter and Facebook friends joined the 7 Action News morning team at the Auto Show for a Tweetup and a chance to be on Good Morning America.

Alicia Smith takes you behind the scene in the video player on the left.

The day started super early as our group gathered at 5:45 a.m. fully armed with smartphones and cameras at Cobo Center.

Anchor Alicia Smith and 7 First Alert meteorologist Keenan Smith featured the Tweetup during 7 Action News.

Twitter and Facebook quickly filled with behind the scenes photos from our friends. GMA weather anchor Sam Champion joined our group as well.

A big Twitter fan, Champion let the nation know about our tweetup several times during Good Morning America.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, made signs and had an exciting Friday morning! This was the kickoff to Channel 7 Family Day at the North American International Auto Show . Family Day is packed with events and giveaways.

This tweetup was just the latest of several events WXYZ has hosted for our community of social media friends. To learn more about our next event, be sure to follow us on Twitter and “like” us on Facebook .

If you've never been a part of a tweetup, we would love to have you join us in the future. Events like this offer an opportunity for us all to actually meet the people we communicate with each day on social media.

Being a part of our #Earlyrisers group is easy, too. Every morning, we chat on Twitter with our friends using that hashtag. We'd be thrilled  to make you a part of that conversation!
