Chrysler investing millions in plants, adding new jobs

(WXYZ) - Chrysler announced Thursday that the company will invest millions in its plants and create new jobs.
The company will invest $198 million to produce the Pentastar V-6 engine at the Mack I Engine Plant. The move will add 250 new jobs. Chrysler will also invest $40 million in the Trenton North Engine Plant. One -thousand new jobs are expected to be added to the Warren Truck Assembly Plant by adding a third shift in March of 2013.
Chrysler's Chairman and CEO was joined by Mayor Dave Bing and UAW VP General Holiefield and Bob Hollingsworth - the Mack Engine Complex Manager.
"Today is another important milestone in living up to the commitment we made more than three and a half years ago to our employees, this city, this region and our country to transform this company," Marchionne says.
"All of these investments are the direct result of a lot of people who have battled courageously to bring Chrysler back to a state of growth. It is our contribution toward helping southeastern Michigan get back on its feet."
