LIVONIA, MI (WXYZ) - For the first time since getting the news that their Livonia Chrysler dealership will re-open, owners Colleen and Dave McDonald are speaking out.
You might remember the McDonalds. We told you about them last year during the peak of the auto crisis. They lost three dealerships -- two Chrysler showrooms and one GM shop.
The couple decided to fight the two closures forced by Chrysler as they shrank their network. The McDonalds argued their dealerships, one in Taylor and one in Livonia, were profitable and that there was no justification for shutting them down.
Apparently the arbitrator agreed. On Friday the McDonalds learned they will be allowed to re-open their Livonia Chrysler dealership.
The McDonalds say they feel vindicated by the arbitrator's decision and that they are excited to get back to work.
Still, much has to be done. The couple has to wait for a letter of intent from Chrysler and instructions on how to restart their operation. We'll keep you posted on a grand opening.
