Dreams came true for one Auburn Hills couple at the Woodward Dream Cruise

WXYZ - Everyone is celebrating a love of cars at the Woodward Dream Cruise, but one couple is celebrating their love.

Chris Conklin asked the woman of his dreams to marry him while on the way to the Dream Cruise.

Jessica Stephenson said yes.

“I’m just smiling so much, my cheeks hurt,” said Stephenson.

Conklin popped the question after faking tire trouble on the way to Woodward Avenue. He pulled over and said he thought he needed to inspect a tire on the passenger side of his Jeep.

Jessica Stephenson soon realized it was all an excuse to get down on one knee.

“I just told her I loved her, that I would do anything for her, and just asked her,” said Conklin.

Conklin says he chose the day of the Dream Cruise, because it is an event Stephenson loves to enjoy with her family. He asked while she sat in a car that is part of his family’s history. The Jeep has been in his family since the fifties.

The Auburn Hills couple says they can think of no better place to start the ride of their life together, than at the Woodward Dream Cruise.
