ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) - It was more feet than tires involved on Woodward Avenue early Saturday for the Cruise in Shoes 5K run.

The run was conceived by Fifth-Third Bank as a way to help raise money for the communities along Woodward that put on the Woodward Dream Cruise each year.

The running and walking event began and ended at Royal Oak Shrine High School. The race also had a quarter mile fun run for kids who are 8 years old and under.

Learn more about the event here.
