PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) - For some, our not-so-secret Woodward Dream Cruise flash mob was exactly that: not so secret. For others, it either caught them totally off guard, or it was a ton of fun.
Saturday night, during Channel 7's Woodward Dream Cruise broadcast, the Action News morning team appeared on camera from Pontiac with a crowd milling about behind them.
Soon, music kicked in and that crowd went wild. Really. They started dancing to a simpler-than-it-looked dance routine put together by the University of Michigan Dance Team.
Organizing a flash mob takes a little more more than you would think. Weeks ago, the Dance Team helped choreograph our flash mob and organize a practice session in advance of the Dream Cruise.
We posted videos showing the dance moves and slyly asked our morning viewers and website users to get involved. They did!
In spite of storms and Dream Cruise traffic, they gathered in Pontiac to add a little element of surprise for those watching on TV at home and checking out the classic cars around Pontiac.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this so much fun!
