AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Chrysler is apologizing after inappropriate language was posted on the company's official Twitter account.
Chrysler deleted the offensive tweet. The tweet was forwarded by other Twitter users shortly after it was sent. It read "I find it ironic that Detroit is known as the #motorcity and yet no one here knows how to f______ drive."
The company says that an investigation determined that an employee of their "social media agency of record, New Media Strategies" posted the tweet on Wednesday, March 9. The employee, Scott Bartosiewicz, was terminated after the incident.
In a statement on their official blog, Chrysler says "Chrysler Group and its brands do not tolerate inappropriate language or behavior, and apologize to anyone who may have been offended by this communication."
"Furthermore, the Company has set in place appropriate steps to ensure that this does not happen again."
Chrysler has also decided not to renew the contract with the social media agency New Media Strategies.
