(WXYZ) - It takes hundreds of volunteers to put on all of the event at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. One volunteer stands out.

Victor Getter is the race's number one fan!

Victor first started volunteering when the Grand Prix started as a Formula One event back in the 1980s. At 96, Victor is the oldest and longest serving volunteer.

The Penske organization considers Victor a treasure. They plan to send someone to drive Victor to Belle Isle to make sure that his record stays intact.

Victor tells 7 Action News, "I found out a long time ago, if you want to know what is going on either be a good listener or get involved."

Victor says he is excited about this year's race, "I love it, I still love it."
