(WXYZ) - Macomb County executive Mark Hackel is all charged up about the arrival of two vehicle charging stations in the parking lot of the Macomb County building.

Hackel pulled up to the news conference in a Chevrolet Volt and demonstrated how easy the charging stations are to use. Hackel says it is important to support the electric vehicle trend because the automotive industry is so important to the county.

"They made this area," said Hackel. "We need to at least provide the space so they can install these free charging stations."

DTE is providing the stations through a grant from the Department of Energy. DTE's John Chriss telling Action News "It is new technology. People need to know that they have accessibility." Chriss goes on to say that people need to feel comfortable knowing that they can go shopping or go to downtown Mount Clemens and be able to recharge their vehicles if they need to.
