(WXYZ) - Honda is recalling 45,747 vehicles due to liftgate problems.

Certain model year 2008-2009 Odyssey vehicles equipped with power liftgate systems may be prone to failure due to a malfunctioning flaw.

Liftgate systems prone to failure may result in unexpected closure and the risk of personal injury.

Honda owners can have the gas struts in their power liftgate replaced free of charge at their dealer. This is expected to begin on or around March 13.

Owners may also contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009.

For more on the recall you can visit www.safercar.gov or call 1-888-327-4236.
