(WXYZ) - It’s a part of everyday for Wendy Wilson and her husband Bobby, they take a second or two to listen to their baby daughter, Mia’s, beating heart.
Mia was born with an extremely, rare, heart condition called Epstein’s Anomaly. It’s a condition that doctors told the Wilsons, could kill their daughter, right there in the delivery room.
It was right there, that Wendy and Bobby and little Mia, would begin a year-long odyssey of worry and surgeries, of prayer and medical miracles.
In fact, in that first year, Mia suffered 4 separate heart attacks.
Just days after her birth, doctors told Wendy, there was only one place to take her daughter if she wanted her to live.
They said take her to the brand new CS Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Now, at 14-months old, Mia is defying all the odds.
How important are the doctors and the medicine at Mott Children’s Hospital?
Bobby and Wendy say without any hesitation, “They saved our baby’s life, without them, she would have died for sure”.
This Thursday night, Brady Hoke, coach of the University Of Michigan Wolverine Football Team, and Charles Woodson are hosting a fund raising party to raise money for Mott Children’s Hospital.
If you would like to attend, you can go to champsforchildren.org to order tickets or to simply donate to Mott Children’s Hospital.
