(WXYZ) - At just 24-years old, Leo Pustelak of Dearborn Heights needed help from a mechanical walker, his mother and his sister just to take a short walk down the block.
That’s because early last year Leo was hit by a speeding car, thrown 120-feet through the air and nearly killed.
But Leo’s biggest problem wasn’t’ walking, it was his eyesight. Ever since the accident, Leo has suffered from double vision and the stomach sickness and horrific headaches that come with it.
That’s when the Call for Action team got involved. First called by Leo’s mother Mary, we quickly arranged for Leo to undergo a whole battery of in-depth tests to correct his double vision.
It took 4 weeks, but in the end we were able eliminate Leo’s vision nightmare completely.
It’s not every day you can change someone’s life, but this past summer we helped provide Linda Hurst of Waterford with the one thing she needed most in this world, a $3,000 wheelchair ramp.
Linda and her husband Tom couldn’t afford it and without it, Linda knew she would simply become a prisoner in her own home.
Right away we set out to provide the money needed to complete that wheelchair ramp and within two weeks, we made that ramp a reality. Most importantly, we gave Linda her precious freedom back.
All of which means, throughout the year 2011, we at the Call for Action team have answered a total of 6,203 of your calls for help.
And, even better, we were successful in returning a massive, $720,083.00 to all of our Call for Action clients.
If you need our help, please call us at 248-827-3362.
