(WXYZ) - They are smaller than an apple seed, more tenacious than a cockroach and they come at you in the middle of the night to suck your blood.
We’re talking about bed bugs.
Can you imagine sleeping with hundreds of these little vampires every night?
Forty-seven-year old Darrin Hill of Detroit doesn’t have to imagine it, he’s been living that nightmare since this past June.
You see Darrin’s house is infested with bed bugs - thousands of them.
Darrin has tried to hire several exterminators to kill those bedbugs, but the price was just too great.
He was told the job could cost between $2,500 and $4,000. And Darrin is living on just $700 a month in Social Security benefits.
Darrin is also confined to a wheelchair and is battling a rare spinal disease.
After 6 months of misery and hundreds of painful bites all over his body, Darrin decided to call the Call for Action team.
Right away we brought in the bed bug battling experts at Eradico Services in Novi. At Eradico, they specialize in killing bed bugs fast and effectively.
Once inside Darrin’s home, they discovered they have one huge job on their hands.
Right away they found thousands of bed bugs all throughout the house.
To kill the pests, Eradico brought in a combination of powerful heaters and huge fans to heat the entire house to more than 120 degrees - a temperature that will literally roast all of those bed bugs to death.
The total cost to do all this is about $4,000, but Eradico is doing all of this for Darrin absolutely free.
Finally, for the first time in 6-months, Darrin will at last be able to sleep through the night without waking up covered in bug bites.
