(WXYZ) - Gathered around the dinner table with his family, 55-year-old Robby Stern tells the frightening story of how a 100-year-old tree came crashing down on the first day of the new year.
Both out of work and disabled, Robby is supporting a rather large family, including 3 daughters and 2 grandchildren - including 7-year-old Victoria and 5-month-old Nathan.
He’s doing it on just over $600 a month in Social Security benefits.
You see, Robby used to be a manager at F&M Pharmacy until the company abruptly shut down in 2005.
The problem now is how to get this old dead tree removed - and how to get the old dead tree right next to it cut down before it falls as well.
The cost for doing both tree trimming jobs could run as high as $3,000 and that’s far beyond anything Robby can afford.
That’s why Robby has called the Call for Action team, praying we can help him, before this 2ndold dead tree falls on his home. Robby worries especially about the young children in his house.
“You bet I’m terribly worried, because if that old tree comes crashing down and the kids are in the backyard, or the back part of the house, they could be crushed, they could even be killed,” Robby says
So we at the Call for Action team are looking for a tree-trimming company to help us get this job done. If you’d like to help us, please contact me, Bill Spencer at bspencer@wxyz.com .
