(WXYZ) - On a beautiful summer day, instead of hanging with his friends outside at the pool 15-year-old Charlie Kadado is doing what he does best, writing news stories.

You see, Charlie, a tenth-grader with a 4.0 grade point average at Dakota High School in Macomb, is already a professional journalist who began writing for Scholastic Magazine at age 12.

Since then, Charlie has produced countless television news stories for his own weekly internet news program, The K Group News.

He’s met President Barrack Obama, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and he has reported on Michigan politics, with everyone from Governor Rick Snyder to State Treasurer Andy Dillon.

Now, Charlie has just completed his first published book entitled “Sacrifice.”  It’s a fiction novel based on the true life story of ABC News reporter Bob Woodruff.

As a young boy, Charlie followed the story of Woodruff’s miraculous recovery after he was nearly killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq.

Bob Woodruff and I have been close friends for more than 16-years - ever since we worked together as investigative reporters on the same team at KNXV-TV in Phoenix, Arizona.

Now, Charlie is asking me and the Call for Action team to make his dream of meeting Woodruff face-to-face come true.

I spoke to Bob just a short time ago, and he says “I can’t wait to meet this guy Charlie - such a passionate young journalist.”

So, that means the next time Bob Woodruff comes to Michigan to visit his family, Charlie will see his dream come true. When that happens, we’ll bring it all to you on 7 Action News at 5:00.
