Democrats to unveil free college plan

(WXYZ) - Michigan Democrats are planning to unveil a new proposal today that would provide free college tuition to anyone in the state who needs it.

It’s called the Michigan 2020 Plan.

Supporters believe helping Michigan students attend college will help bring jobs to the state by creating the most educated and highly skilled workforce in the country.

Public, private and home-schooled students would all be eligible for the program.

Details on the new initiative, including how the plan would be funded, will be revealed in a 9:00 a.m. press conference this morning in Lansing.

On the plan’s website, organizers claim this program would not raise taxes “one cent”.
