Cell phone carriers: Who's on top of the latest tests

(WXYZ) - In a nationwide cell phone test, Verizon was rated the best carrier after CNN and Money Magazine analyzed network data from iPhone users.

Verizon was found to have the strongest signal strength which is possibly due to having the most towers. Their speed was also more consistent than other carriers, with their web pages uploading faster than any other carrier.

Although At&t was found to have the fastest network, it was also found to be the most inconsistent with speed variability. Depending on the time of day, would lead to fast or mediocre coverage.

Sprint's network was the slowest overall, taking almost three times as long to load compared to Verizon. However, Sprint did rank the most consistent with speeds rarely changing more than 25 percent from the median.

T-Mobile and smaller carriers were not rated because many of them don't have the iPhone which is how the data was collected. For more information on the results click here.
