(WXYZ) - You're entitled to a free credit report each year from each of the three credit reporting bureaus, but you have to pay to get your credit score.
Even sites that promote free credit scores typically involve you having to sign up for a trial membership of some product.
Now Consumers Union is petitioning the government to change that, saying we should all have free access to the kind of information lenders use to determine the interest rate you pay on everything from a car loan to a mortgage.
