How to find out what that doctor's visit or test should cost you

(WXYZ) - It's getting more and more expensive to see the doctor or visit a hospital. Procedures that used to cost just a 25 dollar co-pay now cost you a lot more out of your pocket because of new high deductible insurance plans.

So wouldn't it be nice to know how much a doctor visit or test is going to cost you. Now you can!

There's a website called Healthcare Blue Book, started by a physician, which lists average prices for dozens of medical and dental procedures. You can even customize it by zip code.

You can use it as a guide, but keep in mind different insurance companies have different negotiated prices, so you could still be charged more... or less than what's in the Blue Book.
