(WXYZ) - Tara Riehle is frustrated by her big phones bills these days.
"It was like 159 dollars a month...cable, internet, and two phone lines," Tara says.
But Tara, like many of us, doesn't want to have to deal with Skype or other computer services to make a call. Then she, and you, might like a simple new way to call long distance free all over the world!
It’s a company called “free phone 2 phone," and its offering free long distance, if you listen to a couple 12 second ads. You start by dialing a local access number you find right on their website. I gave it a try. After listening to one short ad, I was given the option of being connected to the advertiser, or making a call. After choosing the “make a call” option, there was another :12 ad and then I could dial my international number, for free. I called a resort in Mexico and was connected within seconds.
One small restriction: you get just 10 minutes per call, and to prevent abuse, only 5 minutes on subsequent calls to the same number the same day. Also, it doesn’t work for calls made to every country. For example, Jamaica and the Bahamas are two countries not listed on the website when I checked. But remember this also works for long distance in the United States.
You can check out the service if you’re interested in learning more at freephone2phone.com
