(WXYZ) - Shopping for summer flowers this weekend, or do you need a new grill? Well before you head out to a home improvement stores, we’ve got the results of a new survey.
This is a busy time of year for home improvement stores, as homeowners buy flowers, tress, mulch and lawn furniture.
Parking lots will be full at Lowes and Home Depot as people tackle all sorts of projects. But while those two stores offer lots of merchandise, neither is number one for customer satisfaction.
The Survey
A new J.D. Power survey of thousands of shoppers measured customer satisfaction based on performance in five factors, merchandise, price, sales and promotions, staff and service, and the store facility.
For the fourth year, Ace Hardware ranked number one, performing particularly well in staff and service.
Lowe's gets a strong second place showing, with the smaller chain Menards in third.
Sears, True Value, Home Depot and do it best ranked lower.
The biggest gripe with home improvement stores, poor service. J.D. Power says the highest rated stores have lots of employees to greet you, answer questions and keep plants green and watered.
When it comes to plants and flowers, how well they're cared for should be the most important thing. A big markdown on wilted petunias is no discount if they don't last. So check for quality, not just price.
