Refunds for Reebok's EasyTone, RunTone to be mailed after Federal Trade Commission settlement

(WXYZ) - Wondering why your Reebok EasyTones haven't given you toned legs and a firm butt? It's because the brand falsely advertised its product.
The government reached a $25 million settlement with Reebok after alleging the brand's EasyTones and RunTone shoes were better than regular shoes at strengthening and toning your legs and butt.
The Federal Trade Commission will start mailing out the refund claims today.
Approximately 315,000 customers will be receiving a refund.
The FTC says if you haven't already filed a claim, you're out of luck. The deadline for customers to ask for a refund was in April.
On average, the FTC estimates the checks will cover 87% of the cost customers paid when they bought the shoes.
If you receive a check, it needs to be cashed before November 6, 2012.
Reebok isn't the only brand to hype the benefits of their shoes. In May, Sketchers paid a $40 million fine to settle the charges that their Shape Ups allegedly deceived consumers.
