NEW BALTIMORE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Kuffs is the newest K-9 sworn in to protect and serve the people of New Baltimore.
Dozens of people came out tonight to meet "Kuffs." The 14-month-old K-9 is the newest member of the New Baltimore Police Department.
The community voted on names and tonight a spaghetti dinner was held in honor of Kuffs.
People attending the dinner chose from the top 5 names. After the votes were tallied, Kuffs came out on top.
New Baltimore Mayor Larry Smith and City Clerk Marcia Sinska swore in the newest member of the police department. Kuffs received his badge from Police Chief Tim Wiley and his handler, Officer Tim Lindstrom. Kuffs' paw print also went on record in the city's ledger book.
Kuffs came from the Leader Dogs For the blind. He will take on his new role as a narcotics officer. Kuffs will search vehicles and houses and get into those tight spots that his human counterparts can not.
