2010 Census shows Michigan's population declined since 2000

(WXYZ) - Results from the US Census released on Tuesday show that Michigan has experienced a 0.6% drop in population since the last census 10 years ago.
Michigan's drop to 9,883,640 people puts our population as the biggest loser in the census. Puerto Rico is the only other United States territory to see a population drop. All of the other territories and states saw population growth.
The decline will result in our state losing one Congressional seat, leaving us with 14 representatives in the US House. The new districts will be drawn up by the state legislature during the next year.
The state gaining the biggest number of Congressional seats is Texas, which will be adding four people to their delegation. Nevada saw the biggest percentage growth, leaping 35%.
Overall, the population of the United State grew by 9.7% from April 2000 to April 2010. That puts the current US population at 308,745,538.
