(WXYZ) - The City of Lincoln Park voted to lay off a quarter of its fire department on Monday night.
There was barely an empty seat at the city council meeting with the issue on the agenda.
The department has 20 firefighters and the council voted unanimously to lay-off five firefighters.
This is happening in the backdrop of union negotiations. Firefighters say they agreed to go down to a minimum of five firefighters per day.
