CASEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) - A 7-year-old boy is facing a charge of unlawful use of a vehicle in Huron County after he was caught driving his stepfather's Pontiac on county roads.
The prosecutor says he's not looking to send the 7-year-old to juvenile detention, instead the prosecutor wants to see the boy get treatment.
The boy is at home with his family. His parents are not facing charges. The prosecutor also tells Action News there is no evidence so far that the boy was taught to drive.

It happened in Caseville in the thumb. The boy took his stepfather’s car and drove it about 20 miles. The red Pontiac Sunbird came flying down the road with speeds topping 50-miles per hour.
Police realized quickly the boy they were seeing could barely see over the dashboard. The 7-year-old even drove off the road several times. Officers finally slowed him down by boxing him in.
As they tried to stop him the boy kept saying he was only trying to get to his dad’s house.
He was in his pajamas.
