(WXYZ) - Police say two people were killed in a two-vehicle accident on 8 Mile near Napier in Northville Township Wednesday afternoon. The accident has closed  8 Mile down.

Crews are on the scene and an accident investigation is underway.

Northville Township police say the driver of a Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on 8 Mile when before crossing the center line and colliding head-on with a blue Mercury. 

The driver of the Mercury was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the truck was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.

Police say the east and westbound lanes of 8 Mile will be closed for several hours.
