WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) - An 18-year-old man has been arraigned after police say he raped and robbed a young mother after she got off the bus Wednesday night on Van Dyke near 8 mile.
Naqunn Blount is facing several charges including First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, Robbery and Identity Theft. He is being held on $750,000 bond.
Investigators say the 26-year-old woman was on her way to pick up her two-year-old son when she heard someone right behind her. When she turned around, she was attacked.
"He grabs her by the hair from behind, she has a cut mark across her throat. He drags her into an alley," says Jere Green, Warren Police Commissioner.
That's where police say the young mother was raped. We're told she pleaded with her attacker saying that she has a 2-year-old who needs her, but that didn't stop him.
Investigators say she tried fighting back, but her attacker shoved her face into a wall and knocked her unconscious.
They say she was dragged across the street and raped again. We're told her cell phone and purse were stolen. Investigators say he threatened to kill her if she told anyone what happened.
Before he took off, "He gave her a hug and said I'm sorry. He said he'd probably go to hell," says Commissioner Green.
Investigators say she ran to her cousin's house and went to the hospital. Someone in the emergency room called 9-1-1.
Police say while in the hospital, the victim checked her credit card account and told police it had just been used at a gas station in Sterling Heights. Police obtained surveillance video from that gas station and spotted the vehicle he was in. They canvassed the area and quickly tracked down the suspect in his Sterling Heights home.
"An arrest was made within 12 hours which I'm proud of. I know that doesn't make the incident any less traumatic for this young lady, but it's not gonna happen here. To be honest with ya, the bad guy knows her address, but we know his address too now," says Commissioner Green.
Investigators obtained a search warrant and say they found the victim's credit card in his trash can at home.
