INGHAM COUNTY, Mich., (WXYZ) - Eighteen-year-old Connor McCowan was arraigned on an Open Murder charge for the death of a Michigan State University Student.
As his loved ones sat in an Ingham County courtroom tearfully watching McCowan’s video arraignment, he appeared calm, and emotionless.
McCowan was arraigned from the Ingham County Jail.
The teen is accused of killing 23 -year -old Andrew Singler , an MSU senior was stabbed to death this past weekend.
The Rochester Hills native was inside an apartment in Meridian Township when he was murdered.
Meridian Township Police would only tell 7 Action News Singler knew his attacker well.
According to Singler’s mother the man in custody is Singler’s girlfriend’s brother. It is alleged the two got into a fight, and which resulted in Singler’s death.
It was revealed in court that McCowan had no previous criminal history. Police asked the court not to set bond.
McCowan’s attorney had no comment after the suspect’s first court appearance and did not want to elaborate as to why he made no request for bond.
McCowan will be back in court on March 5 and 7th.
