SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) - The search is on for thieves who have been targeting Detroit fire houses.

Ladder house 19 on the city's east side has been on a brown out to help save the city money since last year.

That means it is used on an as-needed basis. The last time firefighters worked out of it was back in February.

We're told the thieves used bolt cutters to raid lockers, and got away with anything they could get their hands on, including a television firefighters bought for themselves and life saving equipment off the fire truck.

Firefighters filed a police report and are waiting to see what happens.
