KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Talk about junk in the trunk.
A public safety officer in Kalamazoo, Michigan had an unexpected surprise when he looked inside a suspect's trunk early Tuesday morning.
A deer climbed from the trunk, stumbled on the pavement and then bolted into nearby woods.
WZZM-TV says the car's driver told officer David Miller he killed the deer after colliding with the animal on the road. The driver also said he was taking it home to feed meat from the carcass to his family.
Miller opened the trunk after the driver unlocked it with a release button. A camera mounted in a Kalamazoo squad car shows Miller starting to close the trunk and then the deer climbing out rear-first.
