AAA Michigan rolls out pink tow trucks for Breast Cancer Awareness Month In October

DETROIT, Michigan (WXYZ) - Pink tow trucks are rolling down the streets of Downtown Detroit, helping stranded drivers. It’s a move By AAA Michigan and the American Cancer Society to raise awareness in the fight against Breast Cancer.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month.  AAA Michigan painted two of its trucks pink to cruise the downtown area through the entire month, helping those in need.

“Our hope is that these pink tow trucks will garner attention and spread awareness to help in the fight against breast cancer, which is the second leading cause of cancer death in women,” says Gerry Gutowski, Senior  Vice President, AAA Automotive Services, AAA Michigan.

Breast Cancer Walk Saturday AT Ford Field

In addition to the pink trucks, AAA will also play a key part in a major event at Ford Field Saturday October 13 ^th.   It’s a special walk called: “Make Strides to End Breast Cancer.”  Thousands of people  are expected to participate in the walk that starts and ends at Ford Field.

AAA is a sponsor of the event and will host its own team of walkers to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  AAA’s two Pink tow trucks will be on hand to offer free roadside assistance to any walkers who may have car troubles with lockouts, flat tires or dead batteries.  You don’t even have to be an AAA member to get the free help.

“I am a cancer survivor and I know how much cancer affects everyone, from yourself to your family members and friends,” says Brent Stahlheber, Senior Vice President and Chief Brand Officer for AAA Michigan.  He will lead the AAA Michigan team at the Ford Field cancer walk event.

The company released photos showing Chuck Podowski, President and CEO of AAA's The Auto Club Group, at the wheel of one pink tow truck, and a crew of employees posing in front of another.

AAA also has pink tow trucks operating in both Chicago and Orlando to help support the American Cancer Society’s walks in those markets.
