(WXYZ) - Sterling Heights Police say a bad accident has closed both directions on 18 Mile between Mound and Van Dyke.
The back-up has been going on for the past couple hours.
Police tell 7 Action News one driver was going eastbound, the other westbound and they hit head-on.
A 29-year-old man crossed the center line at the railroad tracks and struck the car that an 84-year-old man was driving.
Both are in critical condition, according to police.
