DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) - An arrest has been made in the hit-and-run accident that killed an auxiliary police officer from Taylor. Two others were questioned and released.
Police tracked down a badly damaged car to a Dearborn house Thursday night. They arrested a man who was staying at the home.
The windshield on the passenger side of the car was completely shattered along with other damage. Investigators loaded the car onto a flatbed truck and hauled it away.
Police aren't identifying the suspect. The home reportedly belongs to a friend of his. There are reports the suspect told the woman that the car should stay in the garage because the broken glass could injure someone if it was parked on the street.
The accident happened Tuesday night around 9:00. Lt. Dan Kromer was helping a stranded motorist on the side of the road at I-94 just east of Telegraph when he was hit by the car. He died later that night at the hospital. Kromer was 54 years old and a 20-year veteran of the city's Auxiliary Police Force.
Kromer is the second Taylor police officer killed in less than two months.
