DETROIT(WXYZ) - Big Family of Michigan is hosting a festival to increase community awareness surrounding adoption and foster care.
The Kinship Adoption festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 22 at the Wayne County Community District's Northwest Campus. It runs from 11 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The festival will feature workshops, food and entertainment. There will also be tables featuring information from various adoption agencies.
Participants will be educated about the adoption of children with special needs, sibling groups and teen adoption.
The organization will also host a charity auction in October to raise funds for programs supporting abused and foster children in Michigan.
