(WXYZ) - Detroit DPW workers made a gruesome discovery on Louisiana Street just before 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.
They found the body of a woman far back in a field that was littered with trash; the body was near or partly hidden by a couch, according to Detroit police.
Homicide detectives interviewed the workers who found the body.
Police say the body is that of an African American woman between the ages of 20 and 30. They are calling her a "Jane Doe" which indicates there was no identification on her. The medical examiner will try to determine how the woman died.
Police say it appears the body had been there for some time. They say they don't know how she died, if she died there or somewhere else and the body brought there.
