FENTON, MICH (WXYZ) - A Boil Water Advisory is in effect for everyone who gets their water from the city of Fenton.

If you do, you're instructed to boil your drinking and cooking water for at least the next 48 hours.

The reason: there's been a 12 inch water main break on North Leroy street, near Wass street.

The main actually broke late Friday afternoon and crews have been working through the night and today trying to get it repaired. Some may have low water pressure, or no water at all.

But because of the risk of contamination, you're being asked to boil the water until the all clear is given. Testing of the water takes a good 48 hours.

If you live in one of the following communities, you should boil your water:
-living along N. Leroy Street,
-Meadow Point Condominiums
-Fenton estates,
-Crestmont Care Center,
-Crestview Apartments,
-Fenton Commons,
-Glenview and Pineview area,
-Wass Street,
-Lee Street,
-Granger Street,
-the Appletree subdivision  which includes Appletree, Swanee Beach, Orchard Lake, and South Long Lake,
-Also along N. Leroy Street and north of the 800 block.

You can check further with the City of Fenton at 810-629-2261, the Fenton Water Department at 810-714-0528, or the Police Department at 810-629-5311.
