(WXYZ) - Members of the Sweetest Heart of Mary Historic Catholic Church on Detroit's east side would like their bell back.
And you can help them.
The 3-foot tall, 900 pound brass bell was stolen overnight from behind an iron fence.
Bolt cutters were used to cut open the lock.
Scratch marks can be seen from the pedestal on which it sat for the last several years after moving it from another church that closed.
This church has been on the corner of Russell and East Canfield since 1889.
The bell is just as old. It is believed scrappers took it. If you have any information please call Detroit Police.
