MONROE, Mich. (WXYZ) - The U.S. Coast Guard has ended their search for two missing fishermen after their bodies were found in Lake Erie.
A Customs and Border Protection boat crew located the bodies of 54-year-old Godfried McKinney of Southfield and 64-year-old Kendrick Covington of Detroit.
Crews spent hours searching western Lake Erie for the men. The Coast Guard says the men headed out from Monroe on Wednesday to go fishing in a 14-foot boat. They were due back that night and were reported missing after they didn't return.
A Coast Guard helicopter from Detroit and a Coast Guard boat from Toledo, Ohio, searched the lake for hours Thursday morning.
