SOUTHFIELD - Video on the web, it’s everywhere. But how does it get there? Largely with tiny webcams. But as pervasive as video on the web is, most PC’s still don’t come equipped with a camera. You need an add on.

Then you can join the millions who’ve turned their computers into tiny TV studios on YouTube. Or those who’ve discovered the joys of free video calling, anywhere in the world via Skype and other video chat services.

“People are using this more and more all the time,” Logitech’s Tim Lehane told Action News in a Skype interview. “What really needs to catch up is just people getting used to the idea that you can see people on the other end of the screen rather than just call them up.”

But you haven’t caught up with the webcam craze yet maybe it’s a good thing you waited. New high definition webcams are just coming on to the market. Wider shots, more colorful and much, much clearer, they are ready for a closer look.

Action News puts four of the leading brands to the test in the video above. See and hear for yourself the video and audio clarity of the:

Logitech Vision Pro for Mac
Microsoft Lifecam 6000
Blue Microphone Eyeball
FaceVsion TouchCam N1
