DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) - Dearborn Police are warning people about a recent crime spree in the city.

The department is investigating several home robberies that took place in the area north of Cherry Hill west of Outer Drive. These all took place from February 4th through February 6th.

Police say the incidents took place around dusk.

Officers did investigate one burglary after a homeowner called about hearing a window break near that person's home. When officers arrived they found a man running away from the scene. He is described as 18 to 25 years old with short medium black hair. He is around 6 feet or 6 feet 2 inches tall and was wearing a black jacket.

Officers say the suspect or suspects are getting into homes through rear doors or by breaking windows.

Dearborn police have increased patrols in the neighborhood, and neighbors are also keeping an active watch. "You can only have so many police officers in one area at a time, so everybody in this neighborhood is kind of watching out, said Bob Steele, who has lived in the neighborhood for 63 years.

Residents are asked to turn on their porch or outdoor lights, keep all windows and doors locked, use dead bolts on exterior doors, keep valuables in a secure place inside your home and if you see anything suspicious call police immediately.

The number you can call is 313-943-3030 and you can remain anonymous.
