Delta Airlines is closing its regional carrier Comair at the end of September.

The airline says the move will create more room for passengers. Comair operates a fleet of 50-seat jets and Delta wants to replace those with planes that can carry up to 117 passengers.

Comair has hubs in Detroit, Cincinnati, and New York.

Delta says the closure will not result in fewer flights.
