Detroit among top five cities across country for job growth

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit is among the top five cities across the country experiencing job growth according to CareerBuilder and the Economic Modeling Specialists (EMSI).

The study shows that there is a connection between job growth and fast growing industries in the areas.

San Jose, California tops the list with a 7% increase in jobs with a large concentration of technology related jobs.

Coming in second is Houston, Texas which is up 6%, because of energy jobs including oil and gas.

Third on the list is Austin, Texas which is up 6% also. Austin has high private sector employment.

Detroit comes in at number four and is up 7%. Detroit has added the second most manufacturing jobs from January 2010 through 2011.

Detroit fell under Charleston, SC which added the most.

And lastly, coming in at number five, is Salt Lake City, Utah. Salt Lake City was up 5% and has high potential for high-tech jobs.
