DETROIT, MICH (WXYZ) - The Detroit Fire Department and the U.S. Marines are not so busy that they forget the kids at Christmas.
With that in mind, they're getting the word out about the 'Toys for Tots' program and hoping you'll bring your donation of a shiny new toy that will go to children in need.
Bring your generous gift of a new toy to any Detroit Fire Engine house through the month of December and they'll see to it that it gets to a child who will appreciate it.
Toys for Tots is a national program to help children across the United States. It began in 1947 with a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles to what is now an official task of the U.S. Marine Corps.
With your help, the Detroit Firefighters and the Marines will bring the magic of Christmas to children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it.
