(WXYZ) - Gas prices are on the rise around Metro Detroit.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded has jumped to $3.70 in Michigan.

That's an increase of $0.28 over the past 12 days. Nationally, drivers are paying $3.51 on average.

A small fire at a refinery near Toledo is being blamed for the sudden spike in prices.

GasBuddy shows gas averaging $3.65 around the Detroit-area. That's a jump of nearly a quarter over the past week.
