(WXYZ) - Mayor Dave Bing has announced Friday that Detroit Police inspector Don Johnson has been suspended with pay pending an investigation into an alleged sexting scandal with one of his colleagues.

Police inspector Don Johnson is under investigation over intimate photos he allegedly texted to another police official.

A source close to the investigation tells 7 Action News that the photos were sent between Johnson and another high-ranking official in the department who is not a subordinate.

The source believes those photos were willingly exchanged between the two parties more than a year ago. The source says it's believed a third party recently went to internal affairs with the pictures.
