DETROIT (WXYZ) - A Detroit police officer driving his patrol car crashed into a brick garage wall on the city's west side while monitoring a chase.
Police say they were patrolling an area near Devereaux and Gilbert when they began to pursue a man who they thought might be involved with narcotics activity.
One officer chased on foot and the other drove around the block in the patrol car to monitor when he apparently lost control and crashed into a brick garage.
Police say the officer driving the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The suspect was able to get away, but police say they believe they know his identity.
