(WXYZ) - You could be the victim of a cold weather crime and not even realize it.
When you start up your car in the morning and leave it running in the driveway to get warm, thieves could steal your vehicle.
Police in Warren say it's happened five times in the past two weeks. Thieves drive up and down the street looking for cars that have the exhaust coming out of them and if it's unlocked, they steal them.
Police say to protect yourself, lock the doors but make sure you have a second key you can use --or leave the car running in the garage but put the garage door halfway up.
